Week 2b outside of class

Our homework assignment for the weekend was to create a persona for our website. Kira, Alannah, and I all designed our own personas and gave feedback to each other through our facebook group. We were also supposed to call event coordinators and ask questions regarding our event. We are making ours up, however, so we didn't have anyone to call. We also rewrote our design objective of 500 words and integrated all of our ideas together.

The Lancaster Bar Crawl

The Lancaster Bar Crawl is a bar crawl charity event that will be happening in downtown Lancaster City. This bar crawl is an event that will bring people from all parts of the city and Lancaster area to promote a small town community, raise money for a charity, and drink responsibly. The whole point of this event besides having a good time and bringing the community together is to help promote safe driving. All proceeds will go towards two foundations; The DUI Foundation and Stop the Texts Stop the Wrecks.

One of the key components are the bar crawl is to promote and practice positive actions for people to take when driving. Transportation will be provided to all bar locations through out the night. These bars include: Annie Baileys, The Federal Taphouse, The Taproom, The Lancaster Brewing Company, Dip Co., Aussie and the Fox, Brendees and the 915, The Marion Court and Yorgos. The best part about this bar crawl is that transportation to be taken home will be provided to all participants. This is what is really going to attract people about this event and help practice the notion of taking proper steps for safe driving.

Through out the night to help promote the idea of a community coming together is including live performances. We are not only helping a good cause but also helping local music businesses in the community by having a band at each bar to play. This is another piece of the puzzle to help put this event together to add charm and to add the tight knit community feel.

Now it comes down to how do we put all these ideas, feelings, looks, and emotions into something that we can promote for this charity event. This is where Alannah, Ariana, and Kira come into play. It is our job to help create an experience for the participants before they event step into the bar. We are going to create a responsive website for the Lancaster Bar Crawl. When we sat down and talked amongst ourselves we all agreed on the idea we want our website to have a pub charm by creating a fun, dark, rustic feel to our website.  Most importantly want to communicate this look and feel through the use of typography and photography. We want to create a brand through these uses.

There are many key design and fundamental elements that the Lancaster Bar Crawl website needs. The key components have to be for people to be able to view the website and see what the event entails. From our readings and learning in class we have to have this website to be mobile first and stick the core ideas and message that need to be told. As said before responsive design is a key component since many people will view this website from their phones. The feel we want is to have this event to be classy yet fun. They will have access to the map showing the pub route and what order the bars we will go in.  Another tab will feature a sign up page for individuals to register for the event and to have another option of another contributions they want to make to the two foundations.

We also need to feature and highlight specialty beers and deals associated with the charity event. The website will also feature heavy social media coverage. The Lancaster Bub Crawl will be promoted on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and Pinterest.
